Here’s a quick summary of the actions I took yesterday:
- I asked my senators to publicly request a delay in hearings for cabinet members who have not completed their ethical reviews.
- I contacted my State representatives in Pennsylvania to ask them to support redistricting reform and the efforts of Fair Districts PA. A recent study by the Electoral Integrity Project (EIP) ranked Pennsylvania third worst among the states for the fairness of its electoral boundaries.
- I also asked my senators to oppose the appointment of Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education.
I also signed up for two more action alerts, Wall of Us and Jennifer Hofmann’s Weekly Action Checklist. I also signed up for Tuesdays with Toomey, a group in Philadelphia that is chronicling its hilariously sad attempts to meet with Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey (R), who has now gone more than 2,000 days without talking to his Philadelphia constituents.
Back in December, I asked my senators to oppose the appointment of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General. I don’t think I heard back from Bob Casey (D), but I received a disappointing letter from the aforementioned Pat Toomey saying that he thought Sessions would make a terrific Attorney General. Ugh.
Today, I am planning to contact my senators to oppose the appointment of Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State, and ask them (again) to support Planned Parenthood and the ACA.
